OUR NEW ST PAUL'S CHURCH

Our re-ordered church space is now complete and the halls are now updated with new furniture.

Please come in and see what we have to offer in the way of 'a sacred space' for your own meditation or come and experience our new forms of all-age worship as well as traditional as you will see from the Sunday Service page.

On 26 March 2009 at 7.30pm Bishop Stephen, the Bishop of Dover, attended a special service of thanksgiving
for the re-ordering of St Paul's Church and Halls.

Archbishop’s robe maker produces artwork for St Paul’s Church

A textile artist who created special robes for an Archbishop of Canterbury, has completed a unique textile banner for local Maidstone church, St Paul’s in Boxley Road. The work completes the recent refurbishment of St Paul’s.

Juliet Hemmingray, who also produces items for cathedrals, churches, Bishops and priests across the UK, was specially commissioned to create the piece for St Paul’s and commented: “I was very moved by the energy of the congregation and the open, airy feel of the church. My work symbolises modern-day worship at St Paul’s.”

Other renovations include new flooring, lighting and decoration and comfortable chairs in place of pews, plus interactive screens and projectors. The vicar of St Paul’s, Arthur Houston commented: “St Paul’s is a friendly and vibrant church with a growing congregation of people from all backgrounds, young and old. We are delighted with the renovations both the work of local craftsmen and the banner made by Juliet.” Rev Houston continued: “St.Paul’s is becoming a busy community hub with numerous community groups using the complex and the new renovations mean we can now welcome even more people.”

St. Paul’s hosted a successful open evening on Thursday 12th February and many people from within and outside our community came and saw the new look church and facilities.  There was refreshments and an opportunity to meet the many groups and clubs that use the church and halls.
